2012 Summer Signings

Ex-pro's Corner - Neil Wainwright

Gavin Henderson checked in with former midfielder and current Seventy3 columnist Neil Wainwright to get his thoughts on a few bits and pieces since we last spoke to him as part of issue 4.

Hi Neil. As our readers may know, you have a guest column in each and every issue of Seventy3’. How you finding that? Do you enjoy writing?

I really enjoy writing the column, it's a way of staying in touch with my time at Sunderland and gives me a chance to get my opinions of football across on various themes every month.

Famous Five

Before I start I would like to thank editor/contributor Gavin Henderson and the Seventy3 team for their continued support of Sunderland World. We sincerely hope they grow as a fanzine and achieve their aims.

A month ago, because of my time running the Sunderland World site as a whole I was not able to write articles on my own on a regular basis, therefore I decided to create an article team. I aptly nicknamed this team ‘The Famous Five.’

Three of them are long standing forum regulars and two of them are new to the site.

We Have Explosive!

What can I say?

What a start to the new season for the lads! I expect Jordan Henderson didnt expect such a start to the season - but that's football I am afraid!

But what about the next game - the mags at home?!? I had heard rumours but you're never quite sure. I always remember the last time we played them in August, back in 1999, and of course the first of the 2-1 victories. Let's hope history repeats itself and the lads do themselves justice this season. I think this is the one thing we can all agree on, the lads must prove themselves in the Derby games this year and what better start than hammering them up the road in August.
