Seventy3 columnist and former Sunderland star Neil Wainwright has signed again for his beloved Darlington FC, a club which Wainy spent the best years of his career, remembered fondly by their fans as a legend. In a chat with Seventy3 editor Mal Robinson, the
winger expressed his delight on returning to the North East. “It's great to be back here for Darlo”, beamed the Scouser. “It’s been
a bit of a rough time for me recently. I've had bad injuries. However, I am looking forward to playing
in front of the Darlington fans once more”. Signed by Peter Reid for Sunderland, Wainwright went on to play over
250 games for the Quakers before appearing most recently for Morecambe and then
Kendal Town. It is safe to say both fans and player alike are looking forward
to the winger’s return against Stockport County at home on Saturday. Any Sunderland fans without nothing to do come Saturday could do
worse than pay a visit to the Darlington Arena 3pm the day before we take on
the magpies at the Sports Direct Arena. |
